Never watched a Lokesh Kanagaraj film before Coolie and it blew my mind away and I worked my way backwards on his filmography and I get the hype. Also Anirudh's Soundtrack is on an endless loop.

Thinking of this piece the neurologist Oliver Sacks wrote before he died, on how he perceived smartphone use as essentially a neurological catastrophe. He’s advocating for something like the opposite of mindfulness — instead, the problem is that we’re too stuck in the moment.

Saw a bunch of Spanish kids from a kita lounge by the sea eating their lunch and then indulding in the screams and play of childhood for an hour in the sun. The seeds for the Spanish hours of rest are sown very young.

Being totally alien to a language and being stuck at a party has its advantages. Stick to the food table and stuff your mouth at all moments and make incomprehensible "ooh ahh" sounds to pass off as socially compatible.

@kinocow I never learned French, or Italian. But over the years I've learnt to read menus in both languages, and order, too! Multi-culinary!

A Frenchman had an interesting theory that it's because of the Protestant values that seeped into culinary traditions. Good thing with this is it really keeps food spending in check.
Eating anywhere outside of Germany reminds you how much the German attitude towards food (eat to live vs. live to eat) robs the joy from life.
