Shanghai police is checking everyone‘s phone to eliminate dissent and trance of protest. This has been common in Xinjiang against Uyghurs for years. Now it is normalized in more cities. Beijing is scared to the people in China!

Here is a close-up of CCP extraterritorial police 'offices' in Europe as quoted in @FT from the @SafeguardDefend report. Spain has the most with 7 CCP police offices followed by Italy with 5.

This translated post poetically captures so painfully how joy has been slowly squeezed out of life for so many in China over the past several years. Read this beautiful piece by @LiYuan6 https://t.co/mD0NWBThRU

someone mentioned "foreign hostile forces" in Liangma river the crowd responded in fury: "the foreign force you talked about - are they Marx and Engels"? "Was it foreign force that set fire in Xinjiang? Was it foreign force that toppled over the bus in Guizhou"? "Are you all here

Happening on Twitter at the moment at a time of unrest/protests taking place in various places across China. When trying to find the latest posts on situations in various places (in Chinese), you get endless streams of nonsense ads preventing quick access to actual information.

Sadly, CBC closing its China bureau after 40+ yrs in Beijing. In the 5 yrs I was there, official roadblocks made it increasingly difficult to report, and Beijing unresponsive in granting new visas to CBC. Still, being there remains best way to tell China story. Hope we’ll return

Should Russia lose in Ukraine (it points to that direction now but Putin will likely have one more go w all in), it would strengthen Xi’s hand vis a vis 🇷🇺. But if Putin falls as a consequence, well, trying to work out the scenarios for Beijing.
