Personal news:. After 5.5 yrs of covering Alberta, I’m leaving the Toronto Star. What an incredible ride it’s been. Thx to all who followed along, and to my great colleagues. I wish the paper all the success. That said, I’m staying in journalism in Edmonton. More on that soon :).

As a former bartender who worked in a port city, I have a little experience with these creatures. Oh, you poor, poor Albertans. You have no idea what's coming.
WATCH: CTV News has confirmed a rat infestation at two Calgary recycling plants. @TeriFikowski reports. #yyc

Of all Canadians, Albertans are both the most aware of the province’s idea to pull itself out of the Canada Pension Plan, and the most likely to be against it, according to new polling data. #ableg .

The province is exploring the idea of exiting the Canada Pension Plan and setting up its own.

Danielle Smith's original tweet from yesterday suggesting censorship by Meta - a suggestion that Meta indicates is false because her page was never suspended - remains up with 13,000 likes and more than 5,000 retweets. #ableg.
Happy to report, my page is able to post on Facebook again. This was the error that appeared on my page. I hope this is the last time it happens. #cdnpoli #abpoli

Alberta’s Danielle Smith says she’s suspended on Facebook. The company says she’s not #ableg via @torontostar.

Uhh. An admin on *300* pages? Like three zero zero?.
I also reached out to Facebook and they told me the same thing. There are no content restrictions on @ABDanielleSmith 's page. One of the several admins on her page was temporarily restricted because he was also an admin on 300 other pages, and probably tripped a spam filer.

The reality of being a journalist - aside from all the glitz and glamour - is that you’re often editing 2000 word stories from your car in the parking lot of a Tim Hortons with fast food crumbs all over your shirt and running on little sleep. Really feeling like an “elite” today.
