In a little over two weeks 6 Indigenous people have died after interactions with police, including a 31-year-old man from Clearwater River Dene Nation who was struck and killed by a police vehicle near Buffalo Narrows.

Lots of rumours were flying about this one but ownership confirms the historic Jasper Park Lodge has suffered some damage but remains mostly "standing and intact." Phew.

I covered, and was part of, the Fort McMurray evacuation in 2016. I covered the evacuation this past May. This kind of chaos and disorder during a crisis is unimaginable to me.
Crawling out of town. It’s been smoky all day ash started appearing 9p. In retrospet, should have left then. In a lodge full of tourists we didn’t get a heads up from staff. Most of us weren’t sure what to do. Language barriers, unfamiliar with protocols. Staff MIA #Jasper
