A plaque at the Budapest royal palace marking the first Hungarian performance of Creation. Wondering if Van Swieten had a hand in the translation and if it was equally as nonsensical… @Paul_McCreesh

So apparently I’ve been on Twitter for 15 years! I remember creating the account when I went to SXSW that year - seems like a lifetime ago in tech terms…

Gosh this Berlioz is absolutely fantastic. If it had ended there, after act 2, it would have been a fantastic experience but we’ve still got 3 acts to go! #BBCproms

A powerful piece!
"The work done by the composers in creating these works will echo round the Abbey with the time and energy and expertise of singers and musicians performing them." New blog: How shall I sing that, Majesty? Full blogpost here. 👇 https://t.co/a1YBBfrGmS

I love my timeline today when I can’t tell if the tweets about a lovely, generous and kind performer are talking about James Bowman or Paul O’Grady

A lovely start to the day!
A thread of the worst #JaneAusten covers because even when they’re terrible, they’re ALL somehow brilliant. #1 The Regency ended at least half a century ago, and Emma is totally over this shit.

Interesting thread @becklaxton - we must go and visit soon!
Short🧵. As many people know, Laxton, in Nottinghamshire, is one of the few places in England where large-scale #medieval open #fields survive, still collectively organised & managed in the same way that they were 6 and more centuries ago. … /1

Fantastic afternoon of events celebrating Morecombe and Wise at the new Eric Morecombe Centre in Harpenden, curated by @tommyrpearson. What a stellar line up of guests - funny, informative and jovial in equal measure. And the Des O’Connor clip made me weep with laughter!

Truly fabulous concert at Saffron Hall tonight with @jbartonmezzo and Jake Heggie. Amazing programme focussing on the power of music that had us in tears as well as smiles. Thank you so much!

I get told frequently by Conservative MPs that the public aren’t bothered about private companies running NHS services and making a profit. I don’t think this is correct. If you would like profit-making to be removed from the NHS, pls RT. Let’s see!

This will make you laugh (I hope!) If it’s true the folks at the Spectator wi be feeling justifiably sheepish today…
Ok. Stop what you’re doing & read this by @deccamitford. That @spectator hit job on @MarcusRashford that mysteriously failed to appear? It was all based on a totally fake leak. https://t.co/DrnFp7mhEr

Major diary fail this morning and I’d put in the wrong Sunday for playing the organ. It’s a very good job we live so close - bed to console in 7 minutes!

Apols for the name drops, but I feel so lucky to have worked at Aldeburgh in the 90s and to have known people like Stueart, Olly, Marion, Donald, Rosamund and Rita - all links to Britten that have now gone. RIP Stueart - loveliest of people, and so kind.
