Highlight of the month:
Twins were born at only 5 months and one of them weighed just 500 grams. Their fight for survival was not an easy one but after 3 months and a half, they left King Faisal Hospital in good health weighing more than 2 kilograms.
2021 started with a sparkle at King Faisal Hospital but more so for Liliane and James, first-time parents who were blessed with quadruplets (4 babies)

It’s official!!! Rwanda has acquired a state-of-the-art catheterization lab. King Faisal Hospital Kigali can now diagnose and treat heart conditions, correct the blood flow, repair holes in the heart and locate blockages in the heart vessels.
A big shout out to Dr. Immaculate Kambutse,she is known for her gentle spirit when talking to patients&her genuine care.
She is down to earth&patients love her for that.

We're celebrating yet another milestone for King Faisal Hospital Rwanda!!!

Meet Iganze Eva Susan, she was born on 2nd March 2010 prematurely. She was taken care of by the paediatricians and NICU nurses& eventually came out victorious. She came with her mom to celebrate her 10th birthday with us. Patients like Eva,are the reason we keep doing what we do.

Happening now, an embolization procedure designed to treat a cancerous tumor without surgical intervention, by using medical imaging technologies.
Our newest MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) machine has just arrived at the hospital. The new MRI has a capacity of 1.5 Tesla and is of the latest technology. It will be providing higher resolution scans of the body’s organs and tissues and allow better diagnosis.

At 14,James developed a tumor (adrenal mass) above his left kidney and moved from hospital to hospital looking for treatment in vain.

Our cardiology team has performed the first Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) implantation to a young patient with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The device prevents sudden cardiac death by detecting abnormal rate & rhythm abnormalities of the heart.

Our urology team has acquired a new laser machine which will be used to treat kidney stones.
The equipment will reduce the time spent to break down stones in the kidney or ureters from an average of 4 hours to only 30 minutes.
Construction works have already commenced at King Faisal Hospital as it undergoes an infrastructure upgrade which is expected to cost an estimated $20M.

King Faisal Hospital Rwanda staff met for an evening to share successes for the previous year and set targets for 2022.
Management rewarded outstanding staff who went above and beyond to help patients as well as long serving employees.
As of today, King Faisal Hospital has witnessed 18 successful Kidney Transplant surgeries. For heart surgery over 175 individuals, including both adults and children have undergone successful operation across the country.

KFH has acquired a new high-tech endoscopic machine that will be used for advanced endoscopic diagnostic & therapeutic procedures. The machine is the first of its kind in Rwanda and will allow us to treat patients without the need for them to travel abroad.
