Cars are also cheaper now than they were in 1950 and modern cars can give you turn by turn guidance to your destination while playing commercial-free streaming of only songs you like and being vastly better at protecting you from accidents.

In 1950 someone working at minimum wage would have to save up all their income for about 3 months to get a shitty B&W TV with 5 channels. Today at minimum wage you can get a 50 inch UHD TV for less than a week of work. Another hour a month gets you thousands of shows.
Just one lifetime ago in the United States, our grandfathers could buy a home, buy a car, have 3 to 4 children, keep their wives at home, take annual vacations, and then retire… all on one middle-class salary. What happened?.

High schools routinely pre-approve public remarks at assemblies etc for very prosaic reasons and then discipline students for putting non-approved content in. It's lame but its not racism.

I got a ton of right wing and info ops flack in reaction to this tweet but the revelatory part was a couple Canadian thought leaders who scolded me saying I was excluding the possibility Canada could orchestrate a more effective, genteel, constitutionally compliant version.

Also really drove home the way in which the "episodic" part of episodic TV has been replaced by basically 6 hour movies. Like sure there's a season long story arc but each episode had a very self contained story much more than current ones.
