Okay, that makes more sense. The extension kicks in after his rookie deal ends ($4M this yr, $15M 5th year option next yr). So it’s basically 6 yrs, $112M ($18.6M AAV) through his age 29 season. #Chiefs.

The Chiefs would have to pay handsomely for an EDGE in FA, so instead just pay homegrown for one that plays a ton of snaps, is an ideal fit, and a good teammate/culture fit. Still a lot of money, but I can understand the logic.
Chiefs DE George Karlaftis has agreed to four-year, $88 million extension, per source. The deal has a max value of $93 million in new money, with $32 million fully guaranteed at signing, and another $30 million in injury guarantees that roll into full guarantees.
