It’s almost like those who weren’t poor can put on their “activist uniform” but always know when they get home they can take it off. Those who’ve lived it, & I mean rly lived that shit, it never rly leaves u. In one way or another, it the affects all ur decisions. Good or bad.

Random thought: When you’ve been an activist/organizer long enough, you can always tell the difference in ppl who used to be poor and spend their time fighting so others don’t have to experience that and who were never poor, but feel morally righteous by fighting for the poor.

Morals and values can change when you merely adopted them. But trauma is forever. And make no mistake about it, the trauma from being poor is deep. Imagine being scared to eat something in ur house because u don’t know the next time ur mom will be able to afford groceries.
