Never give unchecked power to one person. No matter what they promise you. Not in politics. Not in business. Not in your personal life. How often do we need to learn this lesson? #Ukraine #Putin

… because he trusts and empowers his people, they don’t need to micromanage themselves either.

Things I'm sick of hearing from my employees: - Can I leave early today - I'll be late in the morning - My child is sick, can I rush off - I've got a doctor's appointment tomorrow, is that okay - I'm going to be late back from lunch, I've got some things to sort I don't care.

If people don’t belong by being themselves, then they don’t belong. But unless it’s due to their serious misbehavior, the fault is yours. Conformity is control, it’s the opposite of belonging, and it destroys motivation. #empowering #leadership #AttachmentTheory

Concern without data is fear. But concern and planning because of data is leadership.

Reporting only positive results with positive spin is not positivity, it’s fear. Positive, effective leaders want the whole truth, unvarnished, to help their teams make real plans that succeed. Hope is not a strategy. #empowering #leadership

From @HabenGirma: “It was Harvard that had to overcome #ableism,” not “oh, you overcame your disability.” “I am still disabled.”

From @HabenGirma: “A lot of disabled people don’t like the word ‘inspiring’ because it can end up as a mask for pity.” Thank you. I was inspired to acknowledge rather than hide my own disability (since May 1990) and advocate for change that benefits everyone. #ableism

I believe we are leading as the Savior would when all of our interactions reflect and remind others, unconsciously, of Him.

Do our words and leadership methods reflect His countenance? Are we patient? Do we actively make it safe for others to speak up? Or does our own anxiety, pride, fear, or personal weakness obscure that image? Do we leave people feeling lifted and inspired, or afraid?

It’s important to lead in ways that do not interfere with the ability of others to feel the Savior’s love. Christ is the ultimate leader. Therefore, as leaders we are given a small part of the Lord’s role, as a leader within our small area of responsibility…

Frank Sinatra was a fervent anti-racist and an early activist during the civil rights movement. He refused to stay at hotels and play at clubs that did not admit black people. His band would also provide equal pay and treatment for black musicians. It was through his relentless

The best cure for micromanagement is feeling what it’s like to safely empower people. Paradoxically, when we give control properly, we gain more far more control of our projects, goals, strategies, and life.

Truth has no attitude. It just is. If an email, article, or post contains antagonism, name-calling, or loaded words, it’s likely not true. Not completely.

People are good at self-preservation. Which means they will not deliver bad news unless you BEG for it. Make it SAFE and reward reporting of risks or you are partly flying blind. #risk #leadership
