A summary of the parent-driven recommendations, and proposed actions for clinicians is presented in Table 3, below:

Parents described several opportunities for clinicians to improve family conferences, including: (1) having the team assume responsibility for calling regular meetings, (2) prioritizing attendance of consistent and supportive team members, and (3) summarizing meeting content.

Parents valued when clinicians: (1) provided space to process emotions, (2) prioritized “big picture” discussions about serious decisions, (3) dedicated time to parent questions, and (4) responded to parent concerns and made an effort to foster consensus during family conferences

Parents shared elements of family conferences they valued, as well as suggestions for clinicians as to how to improve their experience of family conferences.

As part of a larger, longitudinal study of decision-making, we conducted interviews with parents of infants with neurologic conditions hospitalized in an ICU, which included questions about their experiences participating in family conferences.

While I may be the first woman in this office, I will not be the last—because every little girl watching tonight sees that this is a country of possibilities.

Travis was truly the best. He spread love wherever he went and brought so many people along with him on his mission with warmth and kindness. He was my hero and I will miss him very much. Sending love and healing to his incredible family ♥️
