Very stoked to say that EVERY SINGLE Year 8 chose a Modern Language (Sp/Fr) for GCSE this year 🤩 First year in new school, new HoD, following EPI approach @gianfrancocont9. Kids say that languages are do-able and they feel great! So so so happy for Languages 🥳🌍 #MFLtwitterati

Again I’ve said NO to speaking at another all white male line-up conference At best it’s lazy & worst it’s sexist, racist, ableist or homophobic Although I have plenty to offer, there are so many great educational experts who don’t look like me who should be given the platform!

I had the absolute pleasure of taking Y9 to Valencia last week on a fully immersive trip. It was 4 hours of lessons per day and then cultural activities i.e local school intercambio, tapas tasting etc. Kids were thrilled to practise their Spanish with natives 🤩 #MFLtwitterati
We love a paella party! 🎉🥘 Sound on! “Esta es vegetariana” “Gracias” “¡De nada!” Pupils have been ordering all their food in Spanish and enjoying typical dishes like paella, fidueà, pintxos, churros and more! #MaidaValeSchool #MaidaValeValencia #SpanishFood #FiestaDePaella 🥘

Attending the #WomenEd #IWD unconference to #BreakTheBias and address the barriers that women still face in schools and leadership. Much still to be done, men needed as allies. But here is to celebrating the incredible contributions to education by all the women in our schools 💜

#5PillarsOfLearning This term I have been working on aligning #TLAC & #Rosenshine with our own "5 Pillars of Learning" Evidence based practice at the core of our T&L. Can't wait to start rolling this out with staff & students after half term. #OutwoodFamily #OutwoodResearch💜

When you have students discussing the complexities of conflict, love, or the universe in other subjects I find it patronising to both teachers and students how a list of words will sadly define the richness and beauty of languages.

- Mixed heritage backgrounds - The countries they visit on holiday - Religious festivals they celebrate - Representation of marginalised groups in reading activities - Gender neutral pronouns and adj. endings

A few things to consider that might make your SBs more inclusive. - Family structures - single, foster, adopted, same-sex parents - Hairstyles - Cultural dress - Foods from their home countries - Local problems - The languages they speak
