Labs need to be cognizant of curating data that adheres to a given perception but is inclusive of viewpoints. Evals will have to tease out corner cases well, recent work understanding common sense will be essential to incorporate.

AI approximations of 'common-sense' are going to become an increasingly open battlefield over time. If there's a tough hypothetical, what a model thinks of it and what it thinks the average human thinks of it will become important considerations.

One of the biggest criticisms with Age 2 was its AI non-cheat strategies. Building an unpredictable true opponent has suddenly become within grasp in the last few years. What an exciting opportunity for RTS gamers! 10 year old me is on cloud nine.
it's kind of depressing that the most popular Real Time Strategy game today (according to the ever-reliable Reddit) is Age of Empire 2, which we designed back in 1999. Yeah I know it's somewhat updated but still . there hasn't been ANY huge improvements in RTS in 26 years?

Our internal testing also showed similar results - impressive structure understanding for a VLM but often falling behind competition in text extraction.
Earlier today Mistral released a new OCR api that claims to be state of the art. They didnโt release their benchmarks so we tested it against Gemini ourselves. Mistral reported its OCR as better than Gemini. Our testing showed the opposite. Full blog post in the replies!
