The wine industry was very early to DTC but we have not evolved. How many wine brands: * Attempt to capture email online * Use email flows/segmentation * FB/targeted social ads * Landing pages * SEO * Strategic Social media I've been trying learn this stuff but it's not easy.

Grenache feels like it’s having a moment. Good press but mostly anecdotal, and the WA wine industry folks (myself included) are all crazy for it. Is there data that supports the people are actually buying more? Any wine data Econ people? #grenache

After deep thinking on this topic from an entrepreneurial perspective and as wine lover…. I think @jamiegoode is right. The challenge is when you go DTC without the overhead of a tasting room I.e traditional winery path, you need a healthy margin to acquire customers.
Just a periodic reminder that if any wine company claims to 'cut out the middlemen' you should generally steer well clear!

Nebbiolo/Aglianico blend from Grossgrain in Walla Walla. So good. Fresh, good structure, nice fruit. Middle $30s. Such a winner. Grown on their estate just outside of town. Cool things happening in WA.
