Josh Allen and Pat Mahomes are household names and play in Kansas City and Buffalo. Somehow, MLB can’t market Mike Trout, Jacob deGrom, Gerrit Cole, Max Scherzer, etx.
The Mets are playing their biggest series in probably 7 years tomorrow. They’re calling up arguably the game’s best prospect for it. Two of this generation’s best starters are going for them. The NL East and a bye is on the line. It doesn’t get better than this.
Marcus Stroman has claimed that the Jays won’t build around their core and that the Mets would struggle to replace him. Since, the Jays have brought in multiple All-Stars and the Mets replaced him with Max Scherzer. Lol.
The Mets are going to lose like 86/87 in a games where Senga finishes top-5 in Cy Young voting, Lindor might go 30-30-30, Alonso pushes 50 homers, Nimmo hits 25, and Alvy hits 25ish. Kinda insane to think about
Last 15 games:
McCann: .265/.321/.633
Lindor: .279/.313/.475
Villar: .288/.373/.500
Dom: .292/.397/.458
Alonso since returning from the IL:
.308/.357/.423

kinda insane to think about how,
for at least a little bit, the 2022 Mets had the best vibes in sports. Narco, they beat the shit out of the Braves at home, an 8 game lead in August, deGrom’s return, the Canha game, and this picture
Mark DeRosa: “Frankie Lindor has 19 homers and 77 RBI but we don’t talk about him because we’re ‘mad’ he makes $341 million.” Perfectly sums up the narratives on Lindor.
Today is the Mets’ single biggest regular season game in I don’t even know how long. A win puts you a game up with 4 to go and locks in the tie breaker. Probably no other pitcher from this generation you want on the mound.
The last major deal the Mets have to make is on Javier Báez. They will have a monster winter and keep BOTH first round picks. An absolute master class by Billy Eppler and Co.
Max Scherzer, in probably the Rangers’ biggest game of the year against a division rival after blowing a sizable lead from the early summer, has allowed 7 earned runs before recording his 8th out. Can’t say I’ve seen him do this before!
Man… I feel like a lot of Mets fans don’t realize it, but Brett Baty has potential to be an absolute stud. Plus bat, legit power, good K and BB rates (25.6% K, 12.5% BB in 2021), average, if not above defense at third. He is legit.
Mets fans wonder why big name free agents don’t come to Queens. Mets fans also boo’d Jay Bruce after about a week while he was living out of 5 different hotels in a 2 month span and he had just left his newborn first child. Mets fans generally suck, and players notice that stuff.
Mets believed they had a chance to top a Matz offer, couldn’t, signed Marte, Escobar, Canha.
Mets had top offer on Gausman, he went elsewhere, they signed Scherzer.
Mets were working towards a deal with Báez, offer got topped by Detroit. Have to wonder what happens now…
@BallySportsSO
"Diamond Sports Group, which bought the package of regional sports networks that includes Bally Sports South in 2019, declared bankruptcy in March."
Not to be dramatic, but the haul Billy Eppler has brought in this deadline is borderline franchise altering. Multiple T-100 prospects, other T-20 organizational guys, and still pieces to move.
The year is 2031. The Mets, lead by manager Daniel Murphy, are coming off a World Series title. McNeil is the teams all time hit leader, Alonso has 500+ homers, and the staff is anchored by 5X Cy winner Shane Bieber. Álvarez is a star. deGrom is in the hall. Life is good.
Billy Eppler might go down as the best GM in Mets’ history. He’s handed out 200M in not even a week, and has created the best 1-2 punch in baseball in quite some time.
The Padres, the team who won the deadline, just got pantsed in LA basically ending the divisional race. The Mets, the big deadline loser, pantsed Atlanta and is in amazing shape. Baseballs weird
Billy Eppler has put up an absolute masterclass this winter. Top of the roster, MLB level depth, coaching staff, front office. Just an incredible winter for the Mets.
My final take: the Mets are in a spot now where they can be bold. Do what you have to in order to win a ring. They have the core for it, just need a few pieces. You shouldn’t be scared to trade non-top prospects because of how it’ll effect 2024. Go win a fucking ring.
"I really don't play into it too much, to be honest with you. Younger me may have seen it as a revenge game"
Marcus Stroman was asked about having this kind of start against his former team:
Mets decided not to retweet Grant, took a screenshot, summed up what he said in different words, and included the credit at the very end? These MFs are shit posting Grant lol
Has anyone stopped to think that maybe if the Mets are willing to let Kumar Rocker walk, the medicals are THAT bad? The Mets’ draft heads wouldn’t just let him leave over money. They’ve wanted him for 3 years.
“Alvarez is interested in discussing a long-term contract extension with the Mets, according to a person familiar with the matter. And president of baseball operations David Stearns said he likes — in a general sense — those sorts of deals”
The Mets will likely open the second half of the season with two of the four heads on this generation’s pitching Mount Rushmore leading the staff on a Pennant Chase. Buckle in.
However, it does sound like the Báez ask has moved down from the initial 6/200 to something more reasonable. It sounds like it’s a number the Mets can work with. Don’t have the figure yet.
According to
@WayneRandazzo
, the Mets road blue alternates are no longer in the rotation as every team is only allowed 4 jerseys. The black jerseys replace the blues.
