10 racks of 1U and 2U servers all named completely randomly: buffy. balrog. mottled. sirocco. rotten. An absolute shitshow to find the damn things at 4am on call.
Elder sysadmins: share your ridiculous server naming schemes. I'll go first: Dune. Mailservers named after guild navigators, all-purpose utility server that changed identities all the time was "Scytale," 40 DHCP servers all named "Duncan Idaho," etc.

Useful advice for those of us condemned to attend re:Invent again this year too.
As a Brit who has lived in Las Vegas for the last 18 months, I humbly submit this thread of recommendations and advice for anyone coming to black hat and def con. Feel free to ask questions and add any other recommendations!

And yet Eventbrite still does very well in its category in spite of their page performance being absolute garbage for years.
Almost anyone in B2B SaaS could dominate their category by achieving frontend rendering speeds below 150ms. Yet, less than 1% of the industry masters this. There's a significant arbitrage opportunity right in front of you. Capitalize on it before everyone else catches on.

British people really do hate foreigners more than they care about the planet, huh? Pricks.

Surely this is the CTO’s remit.
The rise of the Chief AI Officer is incredibly fascinating to me. It's this new role where someone is hired to specifically keep up with everything happening in AI and implement it into certain operations within the company. For example, this person might: - Find a ChatGPT

Telegram has a feature where, if someone in your contacts signs up for that service, it lets you know. My friend James died in 2019. Today, seemingly, the new user of his old phone number started using Telegram. The resulting notification was… a surprise.
