People can and do accept medical interventions each and every day with informed consent that helps them weigh risks, benefits, and alternatives. You are not being fair in stating that all interventions must be risk free because thatâs not real life. @RetsefL @RWMaloneMD
We all want âgold standard evidenceâ and can reasonably move toward gathering better data. But if your goal is to exclude by RCT any chance of every harm over the entire lifespan, youâll never accept any medical intervention. Which is just fine for our current leaders.

Sadly, many colleagues are experiencing an unfortunate tragic existential threat to their biomedical research programs on US academic campuses. What takes years to build is lost in weeks-months and one is left believing thereâs no effective oversight to prevent collapse. I have

John Quackenbush built a lab that is at the forefront of human genetics research and bioinformatics. Trump administration cuts have put it in danger of collapse.

Very weird exclusion of lots of data from ACIP. They exclude data from other countries about transmission of hepatitis B from infectious family members other than mom if they are not from the modern US. The CDC points out that in the modern US, everyone is vaccinated. Of course,

Yep. If they want to roll back birth doses they need to discuss the unintended (intended?) consequences of much lower uptake and higher infection rates.
âPeer nations do itâ this way ignores this: Countries that use selective hep B birth-dose policies usually have >95% prenatal screening, centralized records, and near-universal access to care. The U.S. has none of that. Importing their policy without their infrastructure

RICK PAZDUR is now planning to resign at the end of the year â three weeks after taking the job as FDA's top drug regulator, and after we reported on his private warnings. Big shake-up after a year of turbulence at the agency. Story w @rachel_roubein. https://t.co/xOvzLCKD8C

Richard Pazdur, who was just appointed a few weeks ago to be the lead drug regulator at FDA, is stepping down already. He already publicly raised alarms about several of FDA director Makary's plans, saying they could "pose a risk to public health" (see linked article below).

In 2000, the S&P 500 had an elevated trailing P/E of 26, well above its long-term avg. of 14. For the next 11 years, the S&P 500 delivered zero returns! The current S&P 500 trailing P/E is 30 â even higher than 2000. History rhymes. For standardized performance visit our website.

I knew this post would be provocative and evoke a negative reaction. I expected it to be ratio-ed and actually would have been disappointed had that not been the case. What surprised me, however, is that almost no one is even commenting on the actual content of the post --
