We just published an open-access review on a protein kinase linked to gastric cancer - DCLK1. We used structural models to understand the impact of oncogenic mutations. Congrats @AnnalisaCa3929, @HanadiHoblos, @lucet, Matthias Ernst, and Michael Burchert

Learning from our local Blender3D maestro @SarahJ_Piper how to slice and dice renders of protein structures at a @CCeMMP workshop. An example of the quality teaching and peer-to-peer learning that exemplifies the ARC training centre. Check out @PiperProteins for more protein art

From bacterial flagellar motors, to rotary ATP synthase, @em_furlong always has cool structures to share. I'm excited for what's on the horizon from the Furlong Lab at ANU :) #CRYOZ23

Classic thinking inside the box, square peg in a round hole etc. - @brown_hamish talks are always pun worthy. Some very nice engineering of electron microscope apertures to maximize imaging space #CRYOZ23

Dr Marion Boudes is one of the few people I know who can take protocols from other labs and make them work here in Aus, with improvements. She presented some great cryo-EM hacks at CRYOZ23 for large complexes, including grid chemistry, cross-linking, and PEGylation @BoudesMarion

Thanks to Melbourne Protein Group @MelbProtein for supporting me to present at @ASBMB2023. It was awesome to share some of my PhD work with Fasséli Coulibaly @CoulibalyLab. And extra special to have my PhD examiners in the audience, Bostjan Kobe and Marc Kvansakul! 🎓

I thoroughly enjoyed today's mathematical/whiteboard lecture on how images form in an electron microscope, by my old friend and colleague Matt B @bluesocks81 (although I fear my retention will be similar to the proportion of amplitude contrast from a weak-phase object). @CCeMMP

Congratulations @RhysADunstan87, @TrevorLithgow and everyone involved in the study. A fantastic combination of bioinformatics, functional assays and structural modelling to understand how these important pathogens evade phage therapy. I think you rolled a 20 on this one mate!.
Very happy to share our latest #Klebsiella #phage receptor work describing the dual targeting of both the K2 capsule and porin OmpK36 that are essential for phage infection. @TrevorLithgow . @MonashBDI @CentreImpactAMR @LithgowLab.

Our newest recruit to the @Isa_Lucet laboratory, Andrew Thompson (@apthompson11), presents his high-throughput crystallography approach for discovering new drugs to treat Alzheimer's. "If it's not high-throughput, you're wasting your time". Good on you mate. @LorneProteins

Only @SarahJ_Piper would bring protein structure calendars to give away for questions asked at her conference talk. I've never seen hands go up so fast. Well done Sarah on another beautiful presentation @LorneProteins @CCeMMP @PiperProteins
