It's a fantastic piece of journalism that offers a commendable degree of critical empathy and curiosity to how a person can be drawn to harmful and misogynistic incel communities. I cannot recommend it enough.

Two former incels are also interviewed, and they describe their own pathway to the manosphere. Promisingly, they discuss how r/IncelExit and seeing therapists led them to leaving misogynistic incel forums.

I was interviewed about my research on r/IncelExit for this excellent @BBCRadio4 documentary by @sophiasgaler and @AnoukMillet

A while later, I was fascinated to see an academic analysing the possible deradicalising power of the forum and wrote about it when I was at VICE, linked here. Hear the author @joshua_thorburn in our doc today 8/

The first academic research into r/IncelExit and r/ExRedPill says they could actually de-radicalise men and boys, and help lead them out of the manosphere.

in an hour I’m on @BBCRadio4 with my doc How To Save An Incel with @TalkerTempo. We ask: can a subreddit help draw someone away from incel ideology? Reddit is often (in)famous for doing the opposite. But a few years ago, something happened… 1/

Enough is enough. Tutors shouldn't have to choose between accepting wage theft, and actually giving their students a decent education. @NTEUVictoria @NTEUMonash #NTEU

The same applies to students emailing for help, or asking to meet. There is again no option for a tutor to both provide a proper education and get paid appropriately for it.

Alternatively, I can give my students the feedback and assistance that they deserve as students, but effectively do so unpaid. This is wage theft, it's endemic, and it's unacceptable.

The time allotted for marking is meagre. To complete the marking in this time, the only option is to give my students generic, unhelpful feedback that could never realistically help with their education.

In my experience tutoring at Monash University, I've felt like I've often been forced to choose between shortchanging my students, or myself. This is one of many reasons why I'm joining the @NTEUMonash strike.

Does anyone have experience trying to publish an article that pushes back against the serious, humourless style of most academic writing?

I've often enjoyed academic articles that push boundaries and adopt an unusually informal tone. However, I recognise doing so here could risk the chance of getting this work published.

I received perfectly reasonable advice from a milestone panelist that this maybe makes my work a bit too informal for a journal article, but I feel like I can't illustrate my argument as effectively without this pretty silly example.
