This is very helpful and has summed up an underlying theme I've been trying to convey sermon after sermon for the two years I've been preaching in way too many words. Thank you @richvillodas !
I created this 2x2 diagram for my sermon today on Romans 8:12 (we have an obligation, not to the flesh, but to God) I expounded on the connection between the acceptance that God’s offers us and the obedience that is to follow as a result.

“The greatest challenge to making disciples of Jesus in the American context is that most people are already thoroughly discipled into the rival religion of Americanism.” - @BrianZahnd

Our culture is full of the sirens call. Static dancing and flickering in ever ecstatic but ceaseless and unending noise. It's good to break from word, voice and information consumption to meditate on what is, here and now.

I just heard that Navajo Nation, which has done a heroic job wrestling the coronavirus to the ground, is now donating extra PPE to India. The Navajo have been a model of resolve in fighting the pandemic, and are now a model in supporting others worldwide who need help.

And then there's this. (I find humble living is a constant discipline of confronting our biases?) Thank you for informing this Environmental Filmmaker turned pastor, @BrianZahnd. Happy Earth Day everyone.

Spent years working for food justice. Bittman is worth reading on this subject if you care to know more.
"Food is to nourish people, fairly and equitably, while respecting the people who provide it, and the land and other resources from which it comes." Right on. What Is Food For, Anyway? via @bittman.

This is clearly put. Following Jesus is a process of listening, and constant revision in an effort to be near Jesus.
A disciple is a person who has decided that the most important thing in her life is to learn how to do what Jesus said to do. . . . Disciples simply are people who are constantly revising their affairs to carry through on their decision to follow Jesus. — (Dallas Willard)

You are loved long before other people can love you or you can love others. You are accepted long before you can accept others or receive their acceptance. You are safe long before you can offer or receive safety... - @HenriNouwen

Waste less food. Eat less meat. The simple way to help climate change with your diet. Not organic, not local. Just waste less. Less meat. Possible on a low income food budget. #creationcare

Someone once said (maybe Eugene Peterson?) that the antidote to burnout is not rest, but wholeheartedness. In other words, it's not mere work that is killing us, but distractedness, clutter. I think about this almost daily. It's happy and freeing to pursue wholeheartedness.
