Dear Australia, I’m heading home this week for a national cinema tour of The First Hymn—a film that’s been years (centuries!) in the making. We’re screening in every capital city, from 30 June to 9 August. Can’t wait to see you—and for you to see the film!

As Clive Staples also reminded us, if you can’t imagine how it’s possible to *Hate the sin but love the sinner*, you haven’t looked in the mirror recently.

Obviously just a cartoonish take on “hate the sin, love the sinner”—but it reveals a serious cultural blind spot. We have lost our moral imagination (not to mention a true notion of love) if we can’t respect and care for people we profoundly disagree with.

The man who gave us the concept of “Just War” (St Augustine, AD 400) insisted that even if we are forced by circumstances to fight in such a “just war”, we should weep!.________________.“People say a wise person will fight in wars that are just. But if someone remembers they are
