MOVING WORDS by a teacher who lost hope. The problem? It’s obviously written by ChatGPT. All the hallmarks are there, from phrases like “No sneer. No malice. Just quiet honesty,” to the use of em-dashes preceded & followed by spaces (no human does that). Why do this?
A message from a Kindergarten teacher: After forty years in the classroom, my career ended with one small sentence from a six-year-old: “My dad says people like you don’t matter anymore.” No sneer. No malice. Just quiet honesty — the kind that cuts deeper because it’s

🔥 In 494 BCE, the proud Ionian city of Miletus faced Persia’s wrath. After the defeat at Lade, the Persians besieged and stormed the city. Miletus was destroyed, its people enslaved or deported — a tragic end to the Ionian Revolt. 🎙️ Hear the full story in Casting Through

Before spears were thrown at Mantinea in 418 BC, diplomacy nearly toppled Sparta. Alcibiades forged a coalition of Argos, Mantinea, and Elis to isolate Sparta, and even Tegea—Sparta’s oldest ally—considered defecting. The Peloponnesian League was on the verge of collapse.

It has become fashionable recently to "debunk" the "Myth of Sparta." IOW to claim the Spartans were actually *not* great fighters, & that their fearsome reputation was a "bronze lie." But if that's true, how did Sparta dominate Greece for 2 centuries? Here's a fresh take, ft.

There is so much AI-generated garbage now on @YouTube Wouldn't it be great if, in addition to a "thumbs up" and "thumbs down" button, there was also an "AI garbage" button, so users could quickly label such "content" and save others the trouble of watching it?

The three decades from 508-478BC were possibly the most consequential in all of ancient history. In this episode and the next, we tell the story of the Greco-Persian Wars through the eyes of Themis...

I'm so done with fb. I worked quite a bit to build my page's following. But this has happened too many times now, and I basically can't even alert my followers that a new episode is out.

I try to let FB know that my posts are NOT about current politics. The only option I see is the "If you think this is a mistake, please try again" button. I click on that, the "boost" is again blocked. I click again and then my ad account is suspened due to "unusual activity."

Clarification: my podcast's page has a few thousand followers. But hardly any of them will see any new post unless I "boost" it. Ok fine, fb, I'll pay a little to boost each post. But then I get blocked every time [ancient Greek] "democracy" is mentioned.

Facebook is really unbelievable! My podcast is on ANCIENT history. But when I try to post episodes on ancient democracy (which NEVER mention current parties or politicians) fb blocks me! It says I need to register my organization in order to promote political or social issues.🧵
