Even if you want your own charger installed, most landlords that I know of don't allow choice for equipment or setup anymore. It's either a take it or leave is situation. AKA a monopoly.

Total energy and road tax over 5 years: - Model 3 (my charger): 11,800 CHF - Model 3 (landlord's charger): 15,920 CHF - BMW 340i: 14,700 CHF

Other things to consider: - My charger cost 2,000 CHF to install, but new installations are now forbidden - Landlord's setup has a 120 CHF one-time fee - Road tax for the Model 3 is 1,000 CHF where I live. 700 CHF for a BMW 340i xDrive

For comparison, a BMW 340i's fuel would cost 1,940 CHF per year: 20,000 (km) * 0.07 (l/km) * 1.6 (CHF/l) + 700 (road tax) = 1,940 CHF per year

Yearly energy costs for my Model 3: - My setup 960 CHF = 20,000 (km) * 0.2 (kWh/km) * 0.24 (CHF/kWh at night) - Landlord's setup 2,160 CHF = 20,000 (km) * 0.2 (kWh/km) * 0.36 (CHF/kWh from pre-installed charger) + 12 * 58.5 (monthly fees)

My landlord started installing EV chargers in our underground garage. My parking spot's charger is connected to my apartment, and is not affected. For now... But if I wanted to take one of theirs, the conditions are discouraging from owning an EV. My costs would double

The biggest obstacle hindering EV adoption in Switzerland is the landlord's monopoly over home charging

This was Tesla's best ever driver interface. Change my mind

New Model Y can’t switch between cruise control and autopilot while driving. It’s now a setting while parked. Autopilot is great on highways, but I want cruise control otherwise, especially in the city. Now it’s impossible. This dumb, @Tesla Keeping my old Model 3…

Tesla Mobile Service is unbeatable! They drove to me, swapped 12V battery in 10 minutes, done. Would’ve taken half a day of my time with a legacy OEM. @Tesla 👏

One reason why I'm not rushing to replace my 2019 M3P (Panasonic) with the 2025 MYLR (LG): Tesla had a lead in charging, not they're behind in Europe and China.

For some reason there are also 33 brand new pre-Juniper 2025 MYLR cars for sale, all at 43,500 CHF. Those are competing with new Junipers from 54k to 58k CHF depending on spec

Such a shame, because the new MY is a well priced, fantastic car. And most Tesla employees I know are amazing.

Hoped over to Schlieren with a friend to pick up his car after warranty fixes. Amazing service team but last minute error code had us 1.5 hours waiting in the showroom. Same as downtown Zurich: absolutely no one coming in. 2 months ago Tesla was busy. Complete vibe shift now

Vibe check on Tesla in Switzerland, May 2025 🇨🇭 I visited the Zurich showroom to poke around the new Y for 30 mins. Completely empty, no one taking test drives. Never ever seen it like that. People passing by booing and showing thumbs down. Not a good vibe.
