I get it - I needed ways to help the transition to retirement and found it here and with writing for @four4thefire . Last 10 years of my career were the most difficult I ever had. I worked for/with bitter, tyrannical, Machiavellian, rude, and despotic colleagues.

I have an old colleague playing out his insecurities on LinkedIn. He’s retired like me, but is using that vehicle to reminisce and feature his stories from.30+ years ago. It’s like the song Glory Days for cybersecurity.

Also, when people wear a name tag, call them by name as often as possible. If it also has their city/country of origin, use that to create a connection:. “Oh, you’re from Ottawa? I stayed at the Lord Elgin downtown a couple years ago….”. That kind of thing.

Under appreciated advice here.
A major cheat code in life: Being a pleasure to deal with. Kind when others aren’t. Calm when things go sideways. Reliable under pressure. Intelligence alone is overrated. Be someone who lightens the load for folks around them. People value people who make their lives easier.
