Disaster coming for patients with cardiovascular disease if we don't put this right. I want someone who at least feels confident doing my angioplasty/PPM/TAVI/AF ablation when I need one: 12+ months of the acute medical take doesn't give me that.
We continue to see the harmful effects of mandated GIM dual accreditation on Cardiology speciality training. RDs are spending a disproportionate length of time doing GIM (beyond the stipulated 12 months). Which has led to a marked reduction in procedural + imaging volume
