My latest paper on offshore wind. While it might seem like a weird moment to talk about a federal offshore wind authority, I'd argue it is THE moment. We need a credible plan to rebuild this critical decarb industry in a new admin after Trump's destructive tactics. 👇👇
The current federal administration is destabilizing the offshore wind industry with stop-work orders and slashed subsidies. We need a credible plan to meet climate targets and build capacity—enter a federal Offshore Wind Authority.

🚨 Today, Common Wealth launches the Green Planning Commission. A major new initiative to tackle the twin crises of our era: climate breakdown & the affordability crisis. To meet these challenges, we need a new era of democratic planning. 🧵 Here’s why.

What are the ways forward for climate action under Trump? National policy is foreclosed. But a lot can happen at the state and local level. @aldatweets and I argue that we must embrace green economic populism, tackling the cost-of-living crisis and the climate crisis together 🧵

Both candidates in the 2024 election supported fossil fuel expansion, and many politicians believe phasing them out is unpopular. Our new polling data collected during the campaigns shows overwhelming support for curtailing fossil fuel production.🧵 https://t.co/Jb2yyvZswX

We can't continue w this "all of the above" energy policy. It caters to corporations + elites, not people + planet. In this moment of reassessing our strategies, this shows that we can walk and chew gum at the same time: build up renewables while directly taking on fossil fuels.

New polling out today -- voters SUPPORT phasing out fossil fuels. The last election cycle, both Harris and Trump said "drill baby, drill" but it turns out that this doesn't track with popular opinion. https://t.co/JzPZw7VLvZ

I’ve been mulling over this NYT Op-Ed for a couple of days. In the abstract, it is coherent, even compelling. But in concrete political-economic and planetary reality, it’s a dubious argument. First, the author takes issue with policymakers treating climate as a “moral crusade”🧵

The stakes of the years ahead are clear. The climate and the economy are a disaster for working class people—and will worsen. To rebuild the left and fight fascism, we need a political vision that connects kitchen table issues to the fate of the planet. https://t.co/bwiKN3glwu
