More people use @EmergentMind every day now than in all of January. I intend to exceed that growth rate in 2026 📈

Well, that’s pretty cool
We have just used the @Nvidia H100 onboard Starcloud-1 to train the first LLM in space! We trained the nano-GPT model from Andrej @Karpathy on the complete works of Shakespeare and successfully ran inference on it. We have also run inference on a preloaded Gemma model, and we

Lots of people suffering with long covid … lots of good that can be done to help. Consider supporting
For five years I've lived with long COVID and watched people push for answers without the tools they deserved. So I'm building TrialPilot, a way to take part in real studies from home. Any support or sharing would be deeply appreciated. ❤️ https://t.co/PgKofDwIVC

Can our billionaires in America develop a sudden interest in architecture and start building some grand things in our cities? We may as well get cool buildings and environments in exchange for our dystopia

I feel half of my life is logging in to things these days. Login to Sentry. Login to Google to login to Sentry. Login to 1Password to login to Google. Use Passkey to login to Google. Accept for Google to login to Sentry... Where the hell did we go so wrong on this? How about I

This feels pretty accurate. AI is great when there’s already well established patterns. But writing APIs/SDKs feels fraught with danger the further you go along … it’s exactly as he describes, in my experience
A few things I've noticed as all devs write code with AI. When you write foundational / architectural code of a new project by hand, you "feel" the code pushing back if your abstraction isn't right. You feel when something is harder than it should be. The code is telling you

Human beings are called to be co-workers in the work of creation, not merely passive consumers of content generated by artificial technology. Our dignity lies in our ability to reflect, choose freely, love unconditionally, and enter into authentic relationships with others.

And yes, I know you can click “X” on that little dialog to get rid of it … but that’s hardly the first time I’ve seen a “reminder” to enable notifications. And coming in to add this response/clarification gave me another example of pester-based growth hacks. Why is everything

I really hate all these “growth hacks” that continually pester me. I’ve had an explicit preference to _not_ have notifications enabled on most social media for years now. The team has now decided that they’d prefer to keep juicing their metrics than respect my choice.

This is why I always tell people that, even in a software company, “the cobbler’s children have no shoes” … internally built solutions, unless they have a direct link to revenue, will often go underfunded. That probably won’t change (much) even in the age of AI/vibe coding
the problem with vibe coding a thing instead of using an existing product is surprise work you have a period of time where you're motivated and you crank out the perfect solution for your immediate problem then a few months later you realize you need a feature and how you built

If I was professor I’d show this video to give my students an intuition for the standard technical term of “Implementation Independence” and “Multiple Realizability” in cognitive science and philosophy of mind: All these tools seen below have the same function to “sharpen a

I can understand this outcome ... even as I could understand what an awesome reveal it was reading the book without that prior knowledge. But also, what an incredible statement to the book's story that the mere inclusion of a character in the trailer is such a topic of debate.
Andy Weir revealed that it was a marketing decision by Amazon MGM to put Rocky in the trailers. “The idea was that no one is going to walk into that theater without knowing about Rocky. All trailers are designed to put butts in seats, and we want those butts in those seats.”
