#DYK KAEDE ➕ Exercise ➡ KAEDEX? JS ARIAKE (DD-109) and HMCS VANCOUVER (FFH 331) manoeuvre as they conduct a PHOTOEX while at sea on 06 September 2024 during KAEDEX. KAEDEX is a bilateral exercise between 🇨🇦 and 🇯🇵 named for the sugar maple (kaede in Japanese).

JS #KASHIMA conducted a goodwill exercise with the ＠RoyalNavy ＠HMS_Ranger from the mouth of the Thames River to London. This is the 12th exercise with Royal Navy, to realize a #FreeAndOpenIndoPacific, efforts were made to strengthen close coordination.🇯🇵🤝🇬🇧

On Sep 4, DM Kihara visited HMAS Kuttabul in Sydney, Australia and conducted an on-site tour. He also offered flowers at the memorials for the souls of Japanese, Australian and British service members who died in the attack by the former Japanese Navy in 1942. #Australia

Onboard #JSARIAKE, we introduced Kendo and Taiko drumming to @RoyalCanNavy crew. This cultural exchange deepened our nations’ bonds, as we shared in the spirit of Japanese traditions and enjoyed a meaningful time together.🇯🇵🤝🇨🇦

On Sep 3, PVM Miyake visited U.S. Naval Academy, renowned for its long tradition since 1845. MSDF Officer Candidate School and the Academy have been exchanging students since 1971 and learned from each other. PVM encouraged MSDF officer and students there.
