We partnered with HumAngle to organize a 3-day training on conflict reporting for 10 journalists from 4th - 6th November 2025, with specific emphasis on 'the missing’.

In #Nigeria, almost 24,000 people remain missing. Behind every number is a family searching, waiting, hoping. The @ICRC witnesses their pain and resilience firsthand. We hope this conference strengthens global action so that #FamiliesDeserveToKnow.

Today started the International Conference for Families of the Missing which, with 3 hubs in #Maiduguri, #Mubi & #Damaturu, we hope to leverage  to benefit families of the missing in #Nigeria in amplifying their voices & their right to know the fate of their missing loved ones.

After we drilled two new boreholes in Aburi camp, Yagana Bukar told us: “We now have clean water close to us. Our children are healthier and we have more time for family,” The boreholes ended long walks for unsafe water and gives hundreds of families safe, reliable water daily.

Our exchanges with religious scholars in #Maiduguri& #Kano highlight the convergence of IHL & Islamic law in upholding humanity during armed conflict, enriching @ICRC’s aims in influencing behavior of armed actors to protect civilians & ensure humane treatment in hostilities.

The protracted conflict in north east of #Nigeria has weakened water systems, forcing many to unsafe sources. In Abuja today, @ICRC & @AfDB_Group convened authorities and partners to chart a path for sustainable, inclusive water services for #Maiduguri’s vulnerable population.

📍Nigeria | 10 years ago, Falmata fled Marte for Maiduguri with her family due to armed conflict. With little to survive on, starting over was tough. Thanks to seeds and farming tools received from the ICRC, she is now able to cultivate a thriving tomato farm.

By 2030, 2.5 million residents of Maiduguri could gain reliable access to clean water. The @ICRC-led #Maiduguri Water Masterplan, with the Ministry of Water Resources and Borno State govt, took a step forward today as 40+ partners met in Abuja to advance the initiative.
