I had to rant today. I'm tired of the anti-Big 12 narratives that get constantly repeated nationally. A new-look Big 12 could absolutely be every bit as good on the field as the Pac 12 - and the numbers prove it. H/T

“You can doubt the Chiefs. You can dislike the Chiefs. You can disrespect the Chiefs. You’re gonna have to deal with the Chiefs!” - epic call from Mitch Holthus
Joe Burrow has officially matched the “lose a Super Bowl thanks to your brutal OL” part of Patrick Mahomes’ resume. Only an MVP, Super Bowl MVP, and three more conference title games to go.
Damn, man. Oklahoma betrayed at a crucial time by somebody they thought they trusted. You have to feel for them. They would never do that very same thing, you know?
Former Manhattan High Indian and reigning D2 player of the year Trevor Hudgins told ESPN he's staying at Northwest Missouri and not entering the portal to go D1:
"My coach took a chance on me when not a lot of teams did. He believed in me and that's my reason for going back."
Earlier this week, Wazzu head coach Jake Dickert and former QB Ryan Leaf criticized College GameDay for turning Oregon State-Washington State into a joke.
Pat McAfee appeared to respond this morning. And then some.
Texas Tech fans stole a code to buy up seats in Austin, forced Texas to kick out their own students from the game, and beat Chris Beard’s ass for a second time this year.
At least there’s that 5-7 football team to fall back on.
Big 12 Deputy Commissioner Tim Weiser on UT/OU:
“I think their (decision) was more about affiliating with a group of schools…they would rather get beat by Alabama than Kansas State. Or Florida than Iowa State."
Full interview: …
Patrick Mahomes dominating with Derrick Gore, Byron Pringle, Mecole Hardman, and Darrel Williams as his leading receivers. Say it with me: Patrick Mahomes is the best QB in the world, and it’s not particularly close.
Byron Pringle once lost a scholarship to Youngstown State. Now, he’s going to play in a second straight Super Bowl and do it in his hometown of Tampa. Congrats, BP!
Texas *leaves the conference after plotting behind everyone’s back*
The conference *reacts how anybody would after somebody did that to them*
Texas fans *ZOMG this is illegal!!!11!1!1*
Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark today: “Coach (Joey McGuire), I’m not going to put any pressure on you, but I’m going to be in Austin on Thanksgiving. And you better take care of business like you did right here in Lubbock last year.”
Tang on post game radio: This kind of energy should be in this building every night because we’re playing. I hate to be selfish but we kind of deserve this.
K-State’s Ayoka Lee just set an NCAA record with 61 points against
#14
Oklahoma. She leaves the game with as many points as the Sooners have as a team.
K-State was picked 7th in the Big 12 and fired its OC: 8-5
Texas Tech was picked 9th in the Big 12 and fired its head coach: 7-6
Iowa State with the most loaded roster in school history and a preseason top ten ranking: 7-6
Guys, here's the only play we have. Absolutely pack Bramlage the rest of the year. Show as much love with your actions to Jerome Tang and the coaching staff as you possibly can. None of us can control the actions of a university president, but we damn sure can control ours.
Tang on post game radio: our fans were incredible. The energy they gave us…I am so proud of our students and all of our fans. Those are my people and I absolutely love ‘em.
After Kansas State's heartbreaking loss,
@CoachJTang
greets every Wildcat player and coach entering the locker room, telling them to keep their head up.

I agree with this take in general, but my god it’s infuriating to see this sentiment about the Pac 12 when there was none of this for the Big 12 last year.
Felix Anudike-Uzomah (from KC) drafted by the Chiefs
Julius Brents (from Indy) drafted by the Colts
Josh Hayes (from Tampa) drafted by the Buccaneers
Deuce Vaughn (from Round Rock/Austin) drafted by the Cowboys
Absolutely unreal
Not really sure why Texas fans are so upset by Yormark telling Tech to take care of business when they play in Austin. The "Big 12 is going to make us lose" conspiracy theory is a perfect built-in excuse for the inevitable 14th straight disappointing season.
I'd embrace it 🤷♀️
After losing to Coastal Carolina in 2019, KU's Pooka Williams (
@PookaWilliamsJr
) says the team is ready for revenge in their season opener:
"We rescheduled them for a reason."

George came crawling back to the Big 12 post USC and UCLA and got turned down. Pac 12 propaganda machine was furious at this characterization of it last fall, but Dellenger corroborates that the Big 12 was the one who said no.
Amazing.
The Pac 12 had a stand-alone game on Friday night with huge playoff implications and their biggest brand (that is leaving soon) playing and was almost 3.5 million behind two non-OU/Texas Big 12 teams.
Okay it has officially taken me 24 hours of Arizona State being in the conference to fully and completely understand the leadership problem at Arizona State.
I respect the hell out of FAU. KenPom thinks they’re just as good as K-State. I will also never take a tourney game for granted after losing in the E8 to Butler and Loyola. But consider how wild this sentence is:
If K-State beats FAU, they’re in the final four.
The Big 12 acted the way it did BECAUSE the SEC forced it to by poaching four teams over the last 12 years, including the two biggest brands. Such an annoying/maddening/tired narrative.
Interesting note from
@kbohls
’ 9 Things column about the future of the Texas-Texas Tech rivalry. I’ve long thought that baseball is the only sport in which both schools would mutually benefit from continuing to play, but there would be logistical issues with even that.

No matter what the future holds for Skylar Thompson, he deserves a ton of credit for sticking around after what happened in 2018 and becoming the centerpiece of the transition from Snyder to Klieman. Great dude who cares as much about his team as anybody I've covered here.
Few things will ever be as awesome as Ell Roberson telling Jammal Lord during the coin toss that he was going to destroy him, then handing him Nebraska’s worst home loss in almost 50 years.
The Pop-Tarts Bowl between Kansas State and NC State drew the largest audience of ANY bowl game so far — averaging 4.3 million viewers on ESPN.
