Thank you to APS for a great open event and shout out to my fellow #girls in the draw - Averry Chew and Madison Grollman. Thank you to my partner and fellow thrive player Alex Emery. His forehand drives and backhand twoey bounce speed ups are the stuff of legends. #pickleball

4. Aim: don’t over complicate it. Start by aiming the poach cross court because it’s the most natural swing path. Master that first. #pickleballhighlights #pickleballinstruction

2. Commit: If you’re not getting burned once per game you’re probably not going for it enough. The truth is if you’re splitting on time you’re still leaving yourself optionality.

Tag your friend who’s always poaching 💥🥷⤵️ Keys to poaching: 1. Split step! Strange that the key to moving is to stop - but that’s just the sport we play.

Singles legend #chrishaworth joined the pod this week to discuss all things pickle, surviving 3 events a week, his close knit family, beating Ben and Fed, not losing for a year and who will be accepting the role of his new men’s dubs partner this year?

https://t.co/gGI0FuTVd3 Crosscourt When to use it: I love this in mixed (either on forehand or backhand side) to hyper focus on getting the counter down and away from the opponent in front of you.

3. Twoey Slide When to use it: if you can anticipate the attack and you have two handed backhand.

1 (of 4) Tomahawk (a.k.a. “Tommy”) When to use it:: to look super cool (lol) or if your grip allows you or if you don’t have a tennis background and a natural inclination to a backhand counter.

I always say that “when the game gets fast, we have to feel SLOW” as in we have to feel “quiet” and still. And use a @thrive.pb Smoke 14.5mm paddle just like @erik.p.b and I are doing for the FASTEST hands!

4.) Try not to overthink: 🤔 💭 Be an athlete, let the paddle do the work. You’re faster than you think once you quiet down your moving parts. Try to feel like the only thing moving is your paddle and your eyes, nothing else.

3.) Paddle 🆙 and OUT: Keep that paddle up and away from you because like I just said, it’s your shield! 🛡️

2.) Quiet eyes 👀 = fast hands! 💨 Don’t spill the imaginary hot tea 🫖 on your head. The knee jerk (or head jerk?) reaction is to move your head back away from the ball (we are all scared of being hit)…can actually be the cause us to get hit in the head!
