Nice review on the topic. Wishful thinking that AF is won’t recur for many.
Your patient develops #afib during acute illness or surgery. #afib goes away when stressor is gone. Will #afib come back? How to treat? Prevent? Answers and more in our new @JACCJournals state-of-the-art review on stressor-associated AF led by @JHaimovichMD & @ShinoKany ⬇️

Our study showing resource utilization and cost of care increase substantially with AF in patients with symptomatic obstructive HCM.
Atrial fibrillation adds substantially to the economic burden in patients with symptomatic obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. #AHAJournals @jfreeMD

Always a joy to work with @jeffrey_vinocur. Pushing the field of ACHD arrhythmia treatment. @YaleCardiology
#EPeeps “Just a PVI” @jfreeMD making it look easy with left transhepatic transseptal access and left internal jugular ICE. My contribution was to cannulate the CS. Antegrade from groin to interrupted IVC to right hemiazygos to persistent right SVC.

Our study showing that rates of stroke after LAAO remain steady over long term 5- year follow-up demonstrating the durable effectiveness of the therapy.
Long term #stroke outcomes in Medicare patients after LAAO are low and similar to randomized trial data. #AHAJournals @jfreeMD

🚨 New in Heart Rhythm: This is BIG ICD battery longevity varies by 2–3 years depending on manufacturer and number of leads. 🔋 Newer devices last 2–4 years longer. 📉 Each additional lead = 2–3 yrs less battery life. 📈 Key drivers: manufacturer, pulse width, output. We need

There are few in this world who were such forces for good as @atulbutte. His dazzling intellect, relentless curiosity, generosity of spirit, boundless charisma, and infinite optimism left a mark on everything he touched and everyone lucky enough to know him. An enormous loss.

This is when MAUDE really serves a vital role. Early surveillance for safety issues. Nice study.
Post-market surveillance for the EV ICD system, collected from the MAUDE database, shows a number of complications not previously seen #AHAJournals @rranjanMD @shah-in-boots @tjaredbunch

Excited to publish our study on ICD battery longevity in @hrs_journal. Each additional lead costs 2-3 years of longevity, newer devices have an additional 2-4 years of longevity for all manufacturers. And yes- there are real differences by manufacturer!

An excellent example of how observational data can be used to answer causal questions in a timely manner when a randomized trial is not available or feasible. Loss of Medicaid low-income subsidies = ⬆️⬆️ mortality Congratulations @joefigs2 Eric Roberts and team @NEJM
What happens when low-income Medicare beneficiaries lose subsidized drug coverage (aka the Part D Low Income Subsidy)? Unfortunately, they are much more likely to die. And these deaths are likely preventable . Our new @NEJM study out today https://t.co/z8cgDgb2lq
