This is a beautiful Christmas decoration made from driftwood by my absurdly talented wife, Isabel. A very happy Christmas to everyone here. May your days be merry and bright. x

Tesco just arrived with the Christmas delivery. The driver handed me a bag and said ‘There’s a couple of substitutions, here’s your sprig of rosemary and haddock’ I said to him ‘This isn’t the thyme or the plaice’.

Bookmark this, all ye who habitually accuse Andrew Neil of being soft on the Tories.
I promised I’d get back to you. Sorry for the delay. And for the length: To argue the Bank of England bears primary responsibility for the gilt yield spike and sterling collapse during your 49-day premiership requires selective interpretation and revisionist history.

Show me a better example of demented overreach by the state.
What would you do with an extra 30 minutes in your day? 🤔 Free breakfast clubs are transforming mornings for 500,000 children - that's 95 precious hours back each year while children get a nutritious start to their day. Part of our Plan for Change ✨

The first BBC piece I’ve seen or heard on this crisis that attempts to paint the full picture, objectively. Well done @BBCRosAtkins.
Worth a watch … @BBCRosAtkins on the BBC resignations. 🚨 https://t.co/GpyvvcyPhA

This is an essential read, sadly.
Like other decaying regimes, our own ruling classes are using absurdity and demoralisation as a political tactic. We will adapt to it, but we will never quite be the same again. My latest for the Critic. https://t.co/dAabgqGU55

Last week I challenged Deputy Mézec's claim to this govt's "fiscal prudence", made by him in an attack on Dep Bailhache. The context: the govt's defunding of the Social Security Fund. The Fiscal Policy Panel's conclusion in its annual pre-budget report: "Not prudent."
The Budget shows a closing balance of the Social Security Fund in 2026 of £109m, and in 2029 it will be £128m. According to Deputy Bailhache, this fund is being “plundered”. Riiiight 🤔

Energy executives raised fundamental concerns about Net Zero energy policy costs and low carbon energy demand assumptions. No @BBCNews coverage. Complete silence from @UKLabour and @LibDems MPs. When institutions avoid telling the truth, public trust erodes. And rightly so!
An absolute must watch. Energy bosses have just told Parliament that EVEN IF gas prices halved by 2030, the soaring policy costs of renewables would mean bills go UP. Ed Miliband’s plan means more grid, more expensive renewable subsidies, more paying wind farms to turn off.

‘The synagogue attack is horrific, and horrifically predictable. Long before 7 October, anti-Semitism has been bubbling up from the depths. Old Jewish men suckerpunched. Cemeteries desecrated. All while the political class offered only warm words. For shame’ Me @spikedonline:

“Today, the blood of British Jews is on the hands of virtue-signalling politicians who have poured fuel on the fire of extremism with their posturing and appeasement.” I absolutely agree.
A statement from @GideonFalter, Chief Executive of Campaign Against Antisemitism, on today’s deadly attack on a synagogue in Manchester: “Today’s attack was made inevitable by the radicalisation and Islamist extremism that have been allowed to spread by successive governments,

Jersey politicians - please pay attention. @StatesAssembly
It would take 3.7 trillion pounds of materials to generate half of U.S. electricity with 1,095,000 2 MW wind turbines. Each turbine requires 1,671 tons of material: 1,300 tons concrete, 295 tons steel, 48 tons iron, 24 tons fiberglass, 4 tons copper, 0.4 tons neodymium, and 0.065
