I think I'm pretty close to the edge on AI usage and I'll say, most of last year - outside of coding and the way I built product - it didn't really impact my day-to-day work life too too much. So it doesn't surprise me that companies haven't realized the gains they've expected

Software development as a skill most people will do but that some do professionally, kind of like writing. Makes sense. Btw don't think it's just programming that will feel this way. Most things will feel this way.

+1 I think especially if you are building any kind of AI product as your day job, there is a lot of signal buried in the noise about where things can go. It's the early adopter stage of the personal computer moment for agents, and could prove just as significant as ChatGPT.
i 10000% get that lots of people are annoyed about 🦞. there's a ton of hype and a ton of grifters trying to make a quick buck (hello mute and block feature). but there's also genuinely a lot of really interesting things happening in the space. even if on the surface it seems

Something I've been saying a bunch with teams I work with - the great PDE role collapse is happening now. It may seem crazy until you think about how silly it is that we are spending all this time passing archaic artifacts and abstractions from one to another and even more time

I think this is quite true. While I've been experimenting with running @maxtokenai as autonomously as possible, think he'd be first to say that the human "advisor"/"taste" role - even just little nudges here and there - have been critical to avoid (or correct) slop

My fave feature of @openclaw is the heartbeat. This should be built into every coding agent. Having to manually setup cron/launchd jobs seems so primitive compared to an agent that regularly 'checks in' on things.
