Our collaborative work beginning the process to potentially identifying postmortem microbiome markers for pediatric deaths is out. Pediatric postmortem microbiota could be a future tool to assess health preceding death. @OJPNIJ @MSUEntomology.

An indescribable tragedy. Thoughts are with Al’s family, friends, and loved ones. Her kindness, enthusiasm, and quest for knowledge will be greatly missed. #MSUStrong.
I am so very sorry to update original post. Alexandria Verner was an undergraduate research assistant in the lab, working on forensic microbiomes with Bethany Mickles, a graduate student of colleague @jenpechal @MSUEntomology - such sorrow for all families.

Excited to see work led by an excellent grad student (sans social) published today (#oa). The complexity of this postmortem data is sometimes not super fun, but those challenges led to a different analytical approaches with interesting results. Well done!

Bittersweet to say farewell to Dr. Deborah Amulen. She accomplished so many goals towards using insects as feed during her year as an @AAPMSU fellow. I’m very excited to see her future successes! Hopefully, I’ll be able to visit Uganda soon. Safe travels! Keep up the great work!
