I have also been trying to figure out how to talk about this. I am one of the victims.. This is what I have been subtweeting about all summer.
The worst thing, as far as the predator is concerned is, is that he couched his abuse and harassment in spiritual language.
Working on figuring out how to use my voice again now that I canโt be effectively silenced anymore. Iโll start with this: a fellow student that abused me and proceeded to abuse, assault, stalk, and sexually harass two of my friends has finally been dismissed from the school.
Because we were being silenced, I basically just retweeted anything that I saw about sexual harassment and spiritual abuse. I am so glad that I can now speak freely about this.
@candidamoss
Thanks, Dr. Moss! The recent csssb where you and
@SarahRollens
talked about sexual harassment in the academy was really helpful. It made me see this experience as preparation for the future ๐ฌ
@jenniferguo
So sorry, Jennifer. Iโm glad you took action and are now seeing results. Your bravery will make the school a safer place and is a reminder to us all that we must speak up when we see others engage in abusive behavior.
@smehorn
Thanks for these encouraging words, Dr. Ehorn! Yes...churches and seminaries need to do a better job of catching and punishing these types of people rather than enabling them, letting them slip by, etc.
@jenniferguo
Been praying for you, Jen. Glad to hear action has been taken and you've gotten some breathing room again. Praying the next season is a healing one for you.
@jenniferguo
We'd like to add our group thanks for your courage in both taking action and raising your voices, and support for you and everyone with similar experiences. If there is anything we can really *do* beyond this to prevent more in the future [...]
@NickNorelli
he is being expelled. I filed a police report for stalking right after we reported it to the school. It wasn't enough for criminalization, but I at least wanted a record in case the school didn't do anything.
