The problem is, they will actually come and argue that these spaces aren't full of misogyny. Because they can't see it. They see this instead, and not the real danger, hostility, and vitriol women face, or the best case scenario where they just ostracize you immediately.

One of the weirdest things about the GMTK jam was having to figure out control/camera schemes, you usually don't need to make those choices for first-person VR. I don't even have the right vocabulary.

I did bring it into Substance Painter to bake AO, but because of his stylized look the only Substance material I ended up keeping was the rope on the bamboo surfboard. The turtle shell took as much time as the entire rest of him.

Overall the design, modelling, rigging, texturing took me about 1.5 days and was the biggest single task of the jam. Having some good base topology models and a workflow for deforming them sped that up a ton. Being unable to decide on his clothes colors slowed it down more :D.

During most of the jam the ribbons were not set up properly so freaked out constantly in playtesting. @LakuzaVR then set up a bunch of wonderful move/dodge/attack animations for the gameplay based on yoga poses, and @Cyanlaser did the movement/inputs for him.

Detailed the hat to look like a sea turtle shell. Most texturing done in Photoshop by hand. Color palette by @LegendsVR. Added lots of flappy cloth bits to show motion.

I reused some of my existing bases for the head and body, deforming to match the shade of the blockout, saving time on topology. Clothing sketched onto the 3D blockout model in Photoshop, then made from the body mesh to save weight painting! Test pose showed hat was too big.

Game jam character design process for Sage Dude in our GMTK GameJam submission "Hang Zen". Brainstormed initial concepts as a team with @LegendsVR , @CyanLaser, and @LakuzaVR .Inspirations: fleetwood mac juice skater guy, aura-farming boat race kid, and Raiden/shaolin monk.
