Super excited to share that this work by myself and Nathan Fitzpatrick has been selected for a talk at QCTiP 2026! See you in Oxford! 🥳
Our algorithms team has introduced the Quantum Paldus Transform (QPT) — a novel technique that simplifies complex quantum problems by harnessing the power of symmetry, a concept rooted in the work of pioneers like Noether and Pauli.

I'm not suggesting this is the right way to see things. But it is the thought process that a sizeable portion of a large & successful cohort of graduates will adopt, based on their experience with student loans. Sizeable enough to shape the politics of the country in the future.

So then, once you're well into your career & successful, why should you stay in the UK, or take a lower-paying public sector job? Why shouldn't you use legal loopholes to avoid paying taxes? Why should you support subsidies for other social groups, when none were given to you?

If the understanding is that student finance is a transaction & that there was no subsidy, then the conclusion is that after you paid it off, you owe the lender nothing (much like a bank).

This will create drastic changes to how a generation of graduates sees their role in society. Without support from the state, student fees will have become an investment *they* made into *themselves* - knowing this, 20 years later, what obligation will they feel to give back?

As a former IT rep for Oxford PhysSoc and a proud member of the Oxford Flat Earth Society, I'm just glad David Deutsch didn't cancel me
@toadmeister If someone recently elected as President of the Oxford University Physics Society were to turn out to be a Young-Earth Creationist, he should resign before the society passes a motion of no confidence in him.

@WKCosmo But newtonian mechanics cannot correctly predict the observed orbit of Mercury. That’s a direct falsification. Yes, it reproduces relativistic mechanics in the limits of low velocity & mass, but the fact it makes other predictions contradicted by experiment make it false overall

There will be a proper announcement later, but in the meantime you can read our paper - "The Quantum Paldus Transform: Efficient Circuits with Applications" - right here:

Big paper out today with Nathan Fitzpatrick at Quantinuum on quantum computational chemistry! This has been the subject of almost two years of hard work, and I'm thrilled that it's finally out on arxiv :)

See, big man, politics is harder than you thought.
@sikorskiradek Be quiet, small man. You pay a tiny fraction of the cost. And there is no substitute for Starlink.

Polish friends — today is the last day to register for the second round of presidential elections, and the last day to change your polling station if you’ve already registered! If you haven’t registered, you have about 2 hours left to do so!

It is impossible to square the steelmanned view of the new US foreign policy (a deliberate nasty shock to wake Europe up), with this sort of domineering hostility to the most pro-American country of any size in Europe, which already spends 4-5% of GDP on defence.

🔴 SANCTIONED: Georgian Dream representatives and police chiefs responsible for the brutal crackdown on media and protestors in Georgia. The UK stands with the Georgian people and their right to exercise their fundamental freedoms.

The standoff between Georgian police and protesters is escalating. Authorities deploy coordinated enforcement groups, while protesters use fireworks, smoke, and barricades to counter police. Violence is rising by the hour, with protester numbers steadily growing.
The remaining protesters on Rustaveli Avenue in #Tbilisi are using fireworks against riot police. This latest wave of #GeorgiaProtests began on November 28, after Georgian Dream announced it would halt Georgia’s EU accession bid "until the end of 2028".

I had the pleasure of internally reviewing this paper by my Quantinuum supervisor Nathan Fitzpatrick + our collaborators at MIT and NC state. It has some brilliant ideas, so go read it!
We partnered with @MIT to reduce the cost of quantum chemistry simulations. Read the scientific paper: https://t.co/syA3w9Wj2E
