Man, the aesthetic of the @RainmakerCorp website is something else. Subliminal craftsmanship.

Yet to come across a piece of TV that made me feel the way Samurai Champloo did when I was in high school, especially with its one-of-a-kind music. If only Nujabes were still alive today! A perpetual "what could have been" for music. A singular musician. A singular piece of TV.

Until this month, I didn’t know what it felt like to be completely consumed by a problem. Sleep, balance, sanity, all out the window. Don't know what will come out of it, or if I'm even on the right track. But I can't think about anything else. And I've never felt more alive!

When my friends (like @aphysicist) ask questions like this (“can we…” >> implying someone somewhere might help), I remind them: There’s no one coming to the rescue. It’s just us. So. Anybody want to build the next Bell Labs? DM’s open (probably needs 250-500m endowment).
can we just do new bell labs already, i can think of twenty pieces of tech right now that need to be invented, this would be so easy to launch. maybe we redo the giving pledge to commit to this.

Man, I like Gemini 2.5 Pro on @GeminiApp and all. But it has started to glitch out hard. Lengthy chat thread yesterday. I asked one more question. And it just lost all the previous convos and context from before. Threads with Deep Research sometimes become borderline unusable.

It's insane how much more great and sophisticated software needs to be built to enable a better industrial age. There is so much more left to do. We're still so early.

Most growth conversations stop at DAUs or MAUs. That’s never enough to tell you if growth is healthy. I learned this the hard way at Thumbtack and now at Stellar. Big topline numbers often hide what’s really going on underneath.

GF when I say I'm going to that one Whole Foods that's suspiciously close to the best pizza joint in NYC (Lucia) after we agreed to a moratorium on pizzas for a while.

And as always, from The Rhodora by Ralph Emerson: "Tell them, dear, that, if eyes were made for seeing, Then beauty is its own excuse for Being;"

The emotional side of me loves @Monumental_Labs more than almost any other startup. Many people criticize robots that help create art because it "deprives these creations of their souls". But they aren't grasping what creating abundant beauty in this world can do for societies.
We’ve come a long way, baby. The difference between a robotically milled sculpture and one finished by humans.

Ik a zoomer founder whose father’s side defended Chiang Kai Shek’s retreat and his mother’s side was in the Quing Dynasty royal court. He truly believes it’s his destiny to die in a foxhole in Manchuria trying to save China. Millennials don’t have theory of mind for zoomer males

PewDiePie really is the GOAT of the original creators. Came on the scene, had his fun, secured his future, actually got married, had a beautiful family, reduced his screen time, moved to Japan, de-Googled his phones, started using Linux, and self-hosting. The best to ever do it.
