If this state budget deal holds and doesn't hit major snags, it could be signed into law within a week or two. If that happens, then WI officials would keep up their streak of passing budgets close to on time despite divided government & polarization - would be notable to do that.
Since 2009, only one state budget (2017-19) had a publication date more than 12 days past July 1, the 1st day of the new budget cycle. For much of that period, one party had full control of state government, holding the governor's office & both houses of the Legislature.

The state is about miss its deadline to complete the next budget but, as this chart shows, that's not unusual in times of divided government. There is typically no immediate and lasting harm from missing the deadline, but it is worth monitoring over the coming days.
