Labour candidate for East Putney ward in the Wandsworth local elections 🗳️ Policy & Advocacy @UAL 🎨
Joined January 2019
Humbled to have been selected as a local council candidate for East Putney ward 🗳️ I grew up in Wandsworth and coming from a single-parent family, I've experienced firsthand the transformative role local council services can play in people's lives 🪄

Great to visit Fazl Mosque ahead of Ramadan to meet members of the Ahmadiyya community with Cllr Simon Hogg and local councillors. We discussed local priorities including parking and tackling antisocial behaviour in Putney, and I’ll be working with the Council on next steps.

I am really pleased refurbishment is starting on the bridges outside East Putney station, something I’ve campaigned for with local residents!

The threat to Labour is existential. The Labour government needs a real change in approach - and fast. https://t.co/vIe6PcVEZ8

This result must be a wake up call. It’s time to really listen - and to reflect. Voters want the change that we promised - and they voted for. If we want to unrig the system, if we want to make the change we were sent into Government to make, we have to be braver. A labour

Last night I spoke on Newsnight about my £90k student loan. But what I wanted to highlight was the generational inequality young people have faced. Over the last decade my generation has experienced falling living standards, housing that feels completely out of reach, and a

Not sure coming out against the Renters’ Rights Act is the policy win Reform think it is? It’s a really popular policy? There are millions more renters than landlords? Low income households struggle with rent. The Tories’ unpopularity was partly because of inaction on housing?
This Labour government succeeded where the Tories failed – legislating to abolish Section 21 ‘no fault’ evictions and transform private renting. Now Reform want to repeal our Renters’ Rights Act and deny tenants the security, rights and protections they’ve secured. Disgraceful.

Nothing worse than hearing the crocodile tears from a party that tripled fees and slapped on crazy interest rates. Cynically fishing for the votes of young people, after they helped trash a generation
“We’re going to stop the government funding dead end university courses” Shadow education secretary Laura Trott says her party would stop funding courses that “don’t deliver for young people” citing some creative arts courses as an example #BBCLauraK

Britain leads the world in film, TV, music and the arts. The idea that only some of us can be part of that is disgraceful. For 14 years Tory Ministers choked off chances and choices for young people. Don’t let them do it again - whether they now sit in the Tories or Reform.

Though there is an irony that the Tories seem to suddenly be realising, after years of not doing so in government, that they will need to appeal to younger voters - young and early middle age people who have kids, want kids, need to buy homes and have huge amount of student debt!
