There are anti-Zionist Jews. There are Israelis who oppose Israeli actions against Palestinians and protest against them. American Jews helped build the left in this country. All those things are true. Why the conflation of Jews, Zionism and Israeli government actions?
Batya Ungar-Sargon: "Only 13% [of Democrats] stand with Israelis against the Palestinians…" "The thing that makes this so appalling is that Jews built the left in this country. We built the labor movement. We wrote the New Deal. 70% of the lawyers who worked on civil rights

The average person may find it abhorrent to talk to or try to understand the actions and intentions of those they deem evil, or wrong, or even just “the other.” But it is in that lack of interest and understanding that the sources of conflict fester. That is precisely why the

My jaw just dropped. Accusing people of antisemitism because *you* assume that when they talk about money and wealth, they are really talking about Jews? 😳 I think it’s pretty clear where the antisemitism is here. Terrible, terrible post.
Every time I hear Mandami’s anti- Semitic base shouting “Tax the Rich”, what I really thing they are saying is “Tax the Jews.” They are obsessed with bashing Israel and wealthy Jewish New Yorkers like @BillAckman . Connect the dots . @GovKathyHochul going along with this is

Good to see @farnazfassihi covering it as well:
A U.S. colonel has gone public with his concern that official findings about the 2022 killing of journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, a Palestinian American reporter killed by an Israeli soldier, were soft-pedaled to appease Israel. @VivianHYee

We have reached “you can’t wear a hijab if you work on reproductive rights and gender equality issues” levels of absurdity. Come on, people😭
This is Zohran Mamdani's aunt's bio. A mover and shaker! She allegedly wore a hijab after 9/11 but she is an expert in "reproductive and sexual health and rights, gender equality" and other "haram" or forbidden-in-Islam secular NGO priorities. She also is not wearing hijab in

This should be top news on every U.S. media channel. But only @zeteo_news is covering it as far as I’ve seen (happy to be corrected). When it comes to the murder of Americans by the Israeli military, both Democrats and Republicans choose silence over accountability.
“My findings were beyond reasonable doubt that this was an intentional killing of Shireen Abu Akleh.” Retired Army Colonel Steve Gabavics tells @mehdirhasan that the killing of Palestinian-American journalist, Shireen Abu Akleh, was intentional according to his findings.

The Islamophobia aimed at Zohran Mamdani over the last 48 hours is vile, and the silence from Democrats is louder than the hate itself. You can’t preach inclusion, then vanish when a Muslim candidate is under attack.

This framing is insane. Cuomo has escalated a vile campaign of Islamophobia and attempted to cynically weaponize antisemitism in service of his own ambition. That's what's happening here
In the most Jewish city in America, debates over antisemitism have exploded in the final days of the mayoral race as New Yorkers appear close to electing Zohran Mamdani — a 34-year-old Muslim who does not believe Israel should exist as a Jewish state.

The 9/11 related vitriol aimed at Mamdani reinforces the same “us vs them” mentality that Muslim Americans have had to deal with for decades. It’s the same dehumanising mindset that cannot fathom that Muslims also died on 9/11. That Muslims were also first responders. And then

Using the dehumanising term “military aged Arab males” which automatically classifies them as potential threats while simultaneously claiming Muslims didn’t suffer any oppression after 9/11 is just….wow.
Muslims have been treated far better here, and have been far more welcomed, than any white American Christian would be in any Muslim country. There wasn’t any sort of campaign of persecution and oppression against Muslims after 9-11. In fact the government went absurdly out of

People really can’t understand that New Yorkers can’t be manipulated like this. It’s so interesting to see the desperation reaching a fever pitch, and sounding more and more ridiculous along the way. New Yorkers are smarter than that, guys. It’s that simple. Give it a rest.
Can someone explain how the city that endured 9/11 is now on the verge of electing a terror sympathizer as its mayor?

Some incredible oratory from the man I’m proud to have voted for for mayor. I can’t think of any greater speech that describes the American Muslim experience. So proud of this campaign
The dream of every Muslim is simply to be treated the same as any other New Yorker. And yet, for too long, we have been told to ask for less than that, and endure hatred and bigotry in the shadows. No more.

The Palestinian poet @MosabAbuToha writes about the dissonance between Donald Trump’s ceasefire announcement and the reality of what’s continuing to happen in Gaza, where people Abu Toha knows continue to be killed.

Since President Trump announced his plan for a ceasefire, people I know have been killed. One relative described torture during a year in Israeli custody.

This is exactly what is needed. To stop. Take a step back. Break the flow of the news cycle and speak the truth: that Islamophobia is socially accepted in the West. That these people are racist. And deserve to be treated as such. That this racism needs to end. Now.

Is it truly necessary to have such a zero sum view of the world? Is it a purely trauma based view? In any case, this is a devastating testimony to the pitfalls of tribalism, and how it kills any semblance of empathy for the “other.” We can do and be better than this, surely.
🔥🔥🔥 A perfect line from @AmitSegal When asked by @nytimes if it’s a problem that Israeli media devotes only 20% of its coverage to Palestinian suffering, he replied: “I don’t feel badly about it — since The New York Times carries 200% of Palestinian suffering.” Savage and
