I once heard Tim Keller say, “Wise leaders know that leaders are lonely, and they escape the trap of self-pity about it.” True, but Keller’s talk provided no

In chasing ideals w/zeal and/or imaging out loud, etc., pastors may in fact trade one set of problems for another. I’ve learned this over 40 years of FT ministry… The hard way;-) Better in many instances to apply “kaizen” to what already exists.
John Mark Comer sits down with @RichVillodas on the final episode of season 4 of The Resilient Pastor podcast to discuss what he’s learned as he stepped back from pastoring and why he’s underwhelmed by a Sunday-centric model of discipleship. Full episode: https://t.co/ZRsEXEFd2B

As #AI generated content proliferates among the masses, making it increasingly affordable, doable, replicable, etc., credible & proven to be human generated content will increase in value. Rather than rush to automation, hone your own unique value proposition(s), gifting, talent.

On Brick-laying, Tree-Planting, & Change..a 🧵 The process of change isn’t brick-laying; it’s tree-growing. You can throw money, effort, people, and resources into building construction. The more you throw at it, the quicker change happens. The building's rise is directly tied

The instinct to preach Christ from every text is more a matter of devotion than it is a matter of methodology.

Wisdom doesn’t come from experience. It comes from reflecting on experience. Between ages 25 and 75, the correlation between age and wisdom is zero. Gaining insight and perspective is not about the number of years you've lived. It's about the number of lessons you've learned.

It’s not only a cancel culture, ours is a voyeristic culture in which people demand or feel entitled to know every detail re. situations to which they are not otherwise connected, involved or affected, only to egotistically & pharisaically posture on SM w/lack self-awareness.

I learned some things reading to this opinion piece.

Soon after the court handed down its decision, some pro-choice advocates began hurling outrageous and overtly racist remarks at the justice.

Pay attention to how issues & stories are framed. In secular culture the highest framing good is human flourishing and human rights. Though important & central, Christians have a higher reference point of framing. The glorify of God and obedience to him. Worth noticing.

Had a long call with a friend yesterday about “platform” and ministry. A few things came out of that call felt worth sharing: 1. Ministry isn’t supposed to be a platform. Pastoring isn’t a platform. It’s serving. It’s shepherding a specific group of people. It’s foot-washing.
