Until the Nicene Creed becomes a required theological confession in Southern Baptist schools, we will continue to see:. 1) theologians tampering with the Trinity to meet their social agendas;. 2) the Jehovahs Witnesses and Mormons viewing Southern Baptist churches as ripe fields;.

To allay any confusion: Predictable cultural commentary to hype up your sycophants about a preferred human platform for mundane politics should not be confused with the stunning truth of Gospel proclamation to sinners about their eternal peril and need of the divine-human Savior.

My fellow Gospel Teachers,. When you stand before the throne you will not be asked whether you pleased some wannabe religious potentate. You will be asked, “Why did you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ but did not do what I say?”. You have one Master to serve, and his name is Jesus. Focus!.

The Roman Catholic message: “‘Separation of Church and State’ was a mistake.”. The Baptist Faith and Message: “Church and state should be separate.”. Interesting choice this man made to attack our religious freedom on the very day that Americans celebrate our national freedom.

“Separation of Church and State” was a mistake. Jefferson thought it would protect religion from state interference. But it did the exact opposite (thread) 🧵

“While America was not established as a Christian nation, it certainly was established on general theological principles. Those principles, according to the Declaration of Independence, included claims about God, human beings, and social conduct.”

Thesis: All who resort to the physical sword of the state to do the work of the church, which alone was given the sword of the Spirit, the Word—These enthusiasts for human power deny that the Word has the power to accomplish God’s will of converting the heathen. They lack faith.

But when we spread the Word alone and let it alone do the work, that distresses him. For it is almighty, and takes captive the hearts, and when the hearts are captured, the work will fall of itself.”. Compare this faith in the power of God’s Word with those seeking human offices.

Luther on the power of the Word during the Reformation:. “I did nothing; I let the Word do its work. What do you suppose is Satan’s thought when one tries to do the thing by kicking up a row? He sits back in hell and thinks: ‘Oh, what a fine game the poor fools are up to now!’ ….

Beware the false prophet, the false teacher, the false christ. You know them by their fruit. They excuse sin, they elevate men, they distort the gospel. “They are shepherds who only look after themselves . wandering stars for whom the blackness of darkness is reserved forever.”.

The social justice warrior and the right wing populist are really two names for the same attitude of personal imposition upon others. When you hear a theologian or preacher downplay fidelity to Christ and elevate obedience to a political platform, you know who his god really is.

It has become apparent that many of those who sell themselves as conservative leaders among evangelical Christians are actually liberals in all but name. They complain about “social justice” and “woke,” but try to impose their social form and censor all who deny their authority.

Unless you believe Jesus is Lord, you cannot be saved. This is the evangelical truth that regenerates true confessors, exposes every heretical perversion of the gospel, and contradicts every false religion. The Lordship of Jesus Christ is necessary for true Christian confession.

Reading classical definitions of slavery and liberty suggests the idea of eternal relations of authority and submission applies to God a fallen form of human governance that robs the eternal Son of mutual possession of the one divine will and robs his humanity of natural freedom.

Sadly, a scholar’s misuse of historical persons and biblical texts often coincides. Those who abuse Athanasius, John Locke, or the Anabaptists are often cavalier with the writings of Moses, Isaiah, and Paul. Beware lazy scholars. He who perverts a truth likely misuses the Truth.
