One day maybe critics of degrowth will actually read degrowth. There is a difference between obscene consumption and sufficiency. Also, why is positive social value simply tied to consuming goods? Ascending beyond this is a key to sustainable prosperity.

I am so so sorry to hear that the brilliant Herman Daly - founding father of ecological economics - has died. His paradigm-changing work flipped my little econ head inside out & inspired me to write a book on rewriting economics… Here are just some of his big ideas 1/n.

Why are some people so eager to display that they haven't read anything by degrowth proponents? There are certainly critiques that can be made about degrowth but so many Twitter critics don't even both to read stuff by degrowth scholars so they settle for creating a strawman.
The transition of many leftists from 'fully-automated-luxury-communists' to green austerity 'degrowthers' in just a couple of years has been sad to watch. A real influx of political pessimism & despair, unto socialism which is an inherently optimistic philosophy.
