The most important voices are those who have the courage to speak out against their own tribe and self-interest in order to help those in need. Kudos to @iambenaustin for having the courage it takes to stand up to the most powerful members of the Democratic Party tribe.
This op ed isnโt going to win me any popularity contests within my party but is a debate we need to have.

๐ฏ . Deficit spending now is not a tax cut, itโs a tax increase on our kids. The only thing more untenable than voting for a tax increase today on those who cannot afford it, is voting for a tax increase in the future on those who donโt have any representation.
Thereโs no such thing as a tax relief without spending cuts. Govโt can reduce the tax rate, but the spending still must be paid for. Govโt must borrow money (which raises interest rates & requires more taxes later) or print money (which causes inflation). Both hurt Americans.

Government subsidies are always sold as increasing equity. But government spending creates inflation which increases costs and reduces equity. Usually resulting inโฆincreased government spending sold as equityโฆ.and the fiscal death spiral spins until the whole system breaks.
Government policy has focused on reducing the uninsured population by incentivizing states to enroll patients in Medicaid. The incentive comes in the form of FMAP (federal medical assistance percentage) and varies by state. For PA itโs 55%. Obamacare changed the FMAP to 90% for.

Families are more than a co-equal partner in the education of children. They are the customer. That said, kudos to the president of the teachers union for zagging off the party line and staking out a more reasonable position. More people should speak out against their tribe.
We have to respect all children and all families. Bad facts make bad law. Mahmoud should have been worked out on a local level, it's a shame it went all the way to SCOTUS. Parents must have a say about their own kids, they are our partners in education.

Families have the right and the responsibility to raise their children.
โIowa school board member Rachel Wall said: โThe purpose of a public education is to not teach kids what the parents want. It is to teach them what society needs them to know. The client is not the parent, but the community.โโ

RT @RandPaul: Iโm with @RepThomasMassie on this one. Omnibus bills suck. Break up the bills so we can vote on individual matters, not a bunโฆ.
