The stuff in Project 2025 on climate and fossil fuels is even worse than you would imagine. As Michael Mann said, this would be “game over for climate progress.” If you care about a livable future, it’s worth understanding what’s in this radical right blueprint. Buckle up.

Throughout #COP30, Colombia has been leading a group of countries to push for a clear fossil fuel roadmap. President Lula and the Brazilian delegation had publicly supported the idea, but when the text dropped this morning, all the language on fossil fuels was gone.

“There is no mitigation if we cannot talk about the transition away from fossil fuels,” says Colombia here at #COP30. I’m sitting in the overflow plenary room that just erupted in applause.

Who will win at #COP30, the climate firefighters or the climate arsonists? I wrote about the fight for a fossil fuel phaseout roadmap here in Belém.

"Not even Orwell could come up with something as absurd as this: something where the truth is edited out because it offends polluters," Panama's lead #COP30 negotiator Juan Carlos Monterrey at a morning press conference with countries supporting the fossil fuel phaseout.

The Paris Agreement didn’t even include the words fossil fuels or coal, oil and gas. Now, at #COP30 there is a fight for a fossil fuel phaseout roadmap and Colombia just announced a major summit this spring to support the push and the Fossil Treaty.

We don’t know how the fire at #COP30 started, but we do know who set the climate ablaze: the fossil fuel industry. It’s time we hold those arsonists accountable and make polluters pay for the damage they’ve done.

There is huge momentum to develop a roadmap for the transition away from fossil fuels. Agreeing to create this roadmap would make COP30 a major success for the world and the leadership of President Lula. But Saudi Arabia is demanding that it be vetoed. The rest of the world must

Health workers from around the world rally for a fossil fuel phaseout at #COP30. 1 out of 5 premature deaths are due to fossil fuel pollution. The climate crisis is a public health crisis.

Made it down to #COP30 to support the push for a clear plan to phaseout fossil fuels, scale up renewables, and make polluters pay! I think this is my 12th COP, but who’s counting? The fight goes on!

On Tuesday, Ted Cruz ensured the Republican spending bill slashed funding for weather forecasting. He then went on vacation to Greece while his state was hit by deadly flooding, a disaster critics say was worsened by cuts to forecasting.

Schatz: This bill will kill 300,000 jobs in wind and solar per year. We're going to lose out on $450 billion in capital as thousands of projects go under. And because of that, we're going to generate about 500 gigawatts less energy in the next decade. The 500 gigawatts less

Just a reminder that Trump promised to cut your energy bills in half and now is actively pushing a bill that screws over more than 90% of planned energy projects. This thing will make it more expensive for you to run your AC or for any business to operate.

When there’s a blackout or a brownout in the next year, when your prices go up, ask your Republican Senator why they shut down solar projects that were already under way. The answer is they didn’t agree with it but they were super excited about Medicaid cuts so they went along.
