As it arrives in my city should I be doing something ‘for’ the COP? Or better I just give attention to the ‘everyday’ of my life in Glasgow and how I try and live/engage in this place?… Here’s the tree 🌳 & a 🍁 from it today. I’ll repeat this for the next 2 weeks. #COP26

Bike buses are redefining road use—cutting car reliance, promoting #PhysicalActivity, and addressing climate challenges. Seen as both a transportation shift and a form of activism, they’re driving change for healthier communities. 🔓 https://t.co/4gI6awj3Le

Ben in P5 has been working so hard to create a super Thinglink to show how Christmas is celebrated around the world. This is so impressive!

Great to be at @ScotPARC in Edinburgh today presenting a poster on work with @BikeBusShaw (with @DeeHarrPhD) and learning more on the role and value of physical activity! And thinking more about activity, play and place 🤔 @GlobalLocalLGIU #sparc2023 https://t.co/RVYb0SMrZU

Very glad in all my wanderings about the faculties and departments of @UniStrathclyde over 20+ years (😬) to be going along to this as part of the PAFH team :) Hopefully with a nice poster to display at the event too 🤔🚲🚌 …

But what now for Glasgow to support cycling as a practical, recreational & purely enjoyable form of movement? How to *really* embedded the bike, and other active mobility, in the city’s physical and cultural fabric so it’s not just patches & past memories of an observed event?…

Since the @CyclingWorlds left Glasgow on Sunday I’ve been collecting wee ‘street shadows’- material reminders in the city of a time that has left mental imprints on many. Have you any of your own? Memories from the events, of shadows of when it visited?…

There was only one place to hold Strathclyde's Active Mobility Hub monthly meeting post-@CyclingWorlds Yes, outside on the now iconic #MurDeMontrose 🙌 #MontroseStreet #GlasgowScotland2023 #PowerOfTheBike #research

I’ve always loved the way language is punctuated by places: jeans are ‘from Genoa’, denim is from Nîmes in France, suede from Sweden, mayonnaise from Minorca’s Port Mahon, damask from Damascus, sardines and sardonic from Sardinia, and spruce (both the tree and a neat appearance)

Not sure throwing yourself into designing a website is the standard response to a burglary, but that seems to be what's happened. I'm pleased with this as a shiny new place to showcase photos & share sea journeys. Why not take a look... https://t.co/GI6AlUGMPx

"In the 1960s, urban planners were convinced cars had to get everywhere. And everywhere fast. Today they rather dedicate valuable city center space to people." With the conversion of motorway to waterway, Utrecht corrects a historic urban design mistake: https://t.co/5btmaedg1V

I know people like @ChristyMearns have fought to support an alternative vision for this as a space for nature and people.

I find it hard to think this was 3 years ago. But the #Banksy Cut & Run exhibition @GlasgowGoMA at the end of this street brings it back to mind. This remains a car park. The mural and trees are still threatened by development. We could do so much better @GlasgowCC.

Each day in June I sat in Glasgow’s Ingram St car park with a coffee and my book, and counted the returning cars. Their numbers ebbed and flowed- advancing on weekdays, retreating at weekends. But steadily reclaiming the space and pushing me out. Here’s a photo collage and graph.
