This is how we got All Quiet winning only four, and Aftersun & Babylon winning fuck all at the 2023 Oscars. A travesty. In a year where Everything Everywhere swept the awards. Far too many plebs voting! The art doesn’t matter anymore! Sad!.
It’s depressing that becoming a film critic isn’t a viable career option like it was even 15 years ago. I hate it, because reading and talking about film gives the art a cultural life beyond mere consumption. It’s like interpreting art is no longer a value in this world.
