Greta Gerwig in Maison Margiela Couture for the Cannes Film Festival
For some reason this look really doesn’t work here. Where’s the accessories, the hair, the make-up? Where’s the DRAMA?!!
@jacquemusx
I think if the bust area was changed it would really good. It has the breezy feel and the snatched waist, they just needed to change the bust area.
@jacquemusx
I disagree, I think she looks great and i love the heels. the runway version would be too much for a photocall in Cannes. there’s a time and place for drama.
@jacquemusx
I think this shows the talent and genius of John Galliano. The collection can be paired down and it still is a look with quality, dimension, interest! Cause that isn’t not just a dress hand those are not just heels. The shape!!!! Delicious! It’s perfect for Cannes.

Disagree. Couture is, quite literally, all about the real person wearing it.
The designer's vision can be a fascinating fantasy, but if the clothes have no real life application, it means nothing.
Love that she's wearing this complex piece as if it's a simple sundress.
@jacquemusx
The drama is in the amazing skills used in the dress. What is the point of being able to build such a great item from such a simple fabric if you distract from the craft with 'drama'- every time. You don't need extras with an excellent dress- as here.
@jacquemusx
It's a daytime dress for a warm afternoon. I'd like to see it worn with a natural-colored (light tan) wicker handbag and a simple, lower-heeled daytime sandal in a light tan to go with the handbag.
@jacquemusx
the runway styling is giving marie antoinette’s underwear. on greta it looks like a figure flattering sundress. her cloven foot shoes add interest. nobody wants to hang out in the sun wearing candyshell makeup. that’s just for a runway show
